November 1 | Apply to Kwantlen Admissions for the Public Relations Diploma Program | - You must formally apply to Kwantlen; do not merely give an application addressed to the Coordinator of the program
- There is an application fee: check amount on the web site: kwantlen.ca/apply-domestic.html
- You will get a Kwantlen User I.D. and P.I.N. number
- Without the payment of the application fee, you have not formally applied to Kwantlen and therefore will not be considered by the program
- Applications are accepted on the basis of date of application once the completed applications submitted through Kwantlen Admissions are evaluated
- The sooner you get your application fully completed, the better chance you have of being accepted
- You will need to provide proof to Kwantlen Admissions of meeting the English requirement (see web site for more details about English requirement) kwantlen.ca/business/pr.html
- Kwantlen Admissions is not responsible for checking with originating institutions, or with applicants, about whether transcripts have been sent
- The applicant is responsible for confirming that any transcripts or official documents are sent by the originating institution and have been received by Kwantlen Admissions
- There are only 22 seats in the program
- On March 31, the Admissions department gathers up all the completed applications received by Kwantlen Admissions and gives them to the Coordinator of the PR Program, arranged by date of application
- After that, applicants are placed on a waiting list, also based on date of application
- Interim English marks are accepted for the purposes of inclusion in the grouping of accepted candidates
- Other than the interim English mark, if your application is not complete, you will not be included on either the accepted list or the wait list

March 31 | All applications that are completed to the satisfaction of the department and have met the English requirement are given to the Coordinator of the PR Diploma Program | - The Coordinator of the PR Department contacts the students who have met the admissions criteria, based on the date of application
- Applicants are invited to visit Kwantlen for an Orientation session
- Applicants are accepted into the program
- If the application is provisional upon final grades in English, then the acceptance will only be granted once the English requirement is met

| Pay Registration Deposit
| - The Registration Deposit secures your place in the program.
- It cannot be paid on line.
- You have to send a cheque or pay in person at any Kwantlen campus
- Sometimes called “Commitment Fee”
- Your Registration Deposit is a down payment towards the cost of your tuition

| May/June | Apply for Transfer Credit | - You can apply for transfer credit if you have taken the equivalent of courses in the PR Diploma Program at other public, post-secondary institutions (14 week, day school courses)
- To find out if any of your courses are equivalent to courses in the PR program, contact the Coordinator of the PR Diploma Program
- For basic introductory marketing courses, the Kwantlen Marketing department determines which Intro to Marketing courses qualify as equivalent to Kwantlen’s Marketing 1199
- You will need to get paperwork signed by the appropriate person before a course is accepted as equivalent

| May/June | Request info on Prior Learning Assessment | - PLA is a process requiring a thorough review to determine if the applicant can meet the learning outcomes of the Kwantlen course being challenged for Prior Learning Assessment.
- The steps include a portfolio review or a fixed exam, depending on which is more suitable for the applicant along with demonstration of competencies in a personal interview
- Applicants are still required to pay the course registration fee, so there is no cost saving

Registration for the fall term opens (check dates on Kwantlen site)

- You will need your Kwantlen Polytechnic University User I.D. (Student Number) and your P.I.N. to access this site
- Each term is comprised of five (5) courses, each of which are three (3) credits each
- Total: 15 credits per term
- You have no electives
- Register for the five (5) courses listed

- Make sure to pay your fees before the payment deadline to avoid being dropped from your courses
- Be especially careful with any courses that are provided by external departments like Marketing or Journalism as those courses are open to general registration from the entire Kwantlen community
